Bringing the outside in.

With property prices soaring, more and more people are looking to spruce up their homes instead of moving. For lots of people this means extending outwards or converting a basement to gain the extra square footage. However, many of us don’t have the space or the budget to undertake large works like this and so look to other ways to make more out of the space they have.

We have discussed this topic before in our post ‘How to make a small bathroom feel bigger’ (a great ready by the way!) but in this blog post we’re going to show you how to increase your living space by bringing the outside in.

What do we mean when we say ‘bringing the outdoors in’?

As we have previously stated, space comes at a premium now-a-days, so the idea of utilising some of your outdoor space for living (rather than just a garden) is appealing to many. With no need for planning permission you can seamlessly extend your home at a fraction of the cost of an extension.

How can you do it?

To successfully bring the outdoors in you need to use a tile that is suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. Not every tile is suitable for use outside, so please don’t go and pick a tile that you love and just lay it outside, all you will end up with is a very slippery surface and a sore bottom!

As you can see from the picture this fantastic grey tile seamlessly blends from inside to out. Now don’t be fooled these will be different tiles, for example the outdoor version will be coated slightly differently to be better protected from the weather and provide an anti-slip surface.

These wood-effect tiles create a fantastic finish to this space and make a great alternative to wood. These tiles come with an anti-slip finish and are far easier to clean than traditional wood decking, in addition to this they store warmth over the summer so that even in the evening your feet stay toasty warm!

How do I go about getting these tiles?

Ah well, that’s where we come in!
